Hee Jae always wanted to support patients by being a part of the health care system. She received an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, specializing in Pharmacology. She pursued further education to provide direct care to patients. Soon, she received the Diploma of Chiropody in 2021 at the Michener Institute. During her years at the Michener Institute, she particularly experienced the impact of foot care for patients with diabetes. It led to her passion to offer genuine and meticulous, patient-centered foot care and strives to continue expanding her knowledge.
Melissa knew very early in her life that working in the healthcare field and helping enhance the health and quality of life of individuals was her passion. With an Honors undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from The University of Western Ontario, as well as a keen interest in anatomy, physiology, Diabetes, biomechanics and sports medicine, she is able to help patients with a wide array of concerns, so they are able to get back on their feet and active as soon as possible.
Sumrat graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Psychology. Following completion of his undergraduate degree his passion for the medical field lead him to pursue a career in Chiropody at the Michener Institute at the UHN in Toronto. Sumrat graduated from the Michener Institute in 2021 gaining valuable experience working at both the Michener Foot Clinic and private practice ensuring each and every patient is treated with the utmost care and respect. Sumrat’s passion for Podiatric Medicine allow him to comprehensively treat a wide variety of foot and ankle conditions ranging from diabetic foot care to sports medicine, he looks forward to helping you with any foot care needs you may have.
I graduated from York University with a B.Sc Hons., in Kinesiology and Health Sciences. To flourish in medical field was always my passion and dream. After volunteering in many clinics and specialities I chose Chiropody as my career and I am proud of my choice. I graduated in 2011 from Chiropody. To enhance my interest in wound care and diabetes foot care I pursued to be a wound care specialist and certified diabetes educator in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Treating persons with diabetes is my passion and delights me when I see them healing. I treat my patients with care and empathy and their satisfaction is the greatest reward for me. I enjoy my work and like to explore and learn every day.
Arun Homenauth is a humble chiropodist who completed the Michener Institute-Chiropody program. Arun is also an international medical graduate from the University Of Guyana School Of Medicine who was a recipient of the best-rounded graduate award given to those who display strong leadership qualities, academic strength, continued humanitarian effort, and participation in community service. During his pre-clinical and clinical training, he was involved in various research to raise awareness of specific medical issues, prevention, and remedial measures. His most recent studying and training focused on assessing, preventing, and managing diseases and disorders of the foot, culminating in becoming a chiropodist. Arun believes he possesses the following qualities which are not limited to competence, compassion, commitment, responsibility, and integrity. Arun always brings efficiency, dedication, and integrity to contribute positively to himself, his employer, and especially his patient care.
“Andre knew from an early age he wanted to work in healthcare. He learned to appreciate this field of work as numerous health-related professionals worked to keep him active in his competitive sporting activities. Andre’s post-secondary studies began at Western University where he received an Honours Bachelor of Arts with a specialization in Kinesiology. He used this opportunity to explore the many sectors within healthcare.
Samira is a registered chiropodist in the province of Ontario. She graduated from the Chiropody program at the Michener Institute in Toronto and holds a D.Ch. designation. She also holds a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology from York University.
Rebecca has spent most of the past eight years at The Ottawa Hospital providing wound care. She was the recipient of a Gratitude Award in 2023 that recognized her for “extraordinary acts of kindness, courage and discovery”. She brings a passion for diabetic foot screening and wound prevention. Her surgical proficiency and biomechanical comprehension facilitate personalized management plans to improve foot health and function. She is a parent to two boys and one Australian shepherd. In her (limited) spare time she enjoys playing soccer, golf and rock-climbing.
Cindy is a registered Chiropodist, with the D.Ch designation. She graduated in 2000 from the Michener Institute. With over 20 + years working in both a hospital and private practice setting, she feels she can bring many years of experience and education as a Chiropodist to the role of Manager of Medical Education and Clinical Operations position within LMC. She also holds a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from the University of Toronto, graduating in 1996.
Rafid Baker is a licensed Chiropodist who holds a Diploma of Chiropody, with distinction, from the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. He also graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Biology, specializing in Biomedical Science. As a co-founder of a mental health support initiative, Rafid has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to holistic well-being. Throughout his previous clinical experience, Rafid has consistently delivered holistic healthcare through collaborative, patient-centered care. Outside of his professional life, Rafid enjoys playing chess, spending quality time with his family, reading books, watching soccer, and pursuing his interest in numismatics.
